CONESAM Participates in the South-West Zone Techno Expo on Agricultural Innovation
The Coalition Network of Stakeholders in Agricultural Mechanization (CONESAM) recently participated in the South-West Zone Techno Expo, organized by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI). The event provided a dynamic platform for showcasing technological innovations, strengthening partnerships, and advancing conversations around agricultural mechanization and technology-driven development in Nigeria.
The Techno Expo brought together innovators, researchers, development partners, and technology enthusiasts from across the region. For CONESAM, the event was an important opportunity to engage with stakeholders working at the intersection of agriculture, technology incubation, and enterprise development. Through exhibitions and interactive sessions, CONESAM highlighted the role of mechanization in improving agricultural processing, machine fabrication, and strengthening the broader agribusiness ecosystem.
A key highlight of the Expo was the keynote address delivered by Samuel Abas, National Technical Advisor on the RISA Project at Adam Smith International, in collaboration with CONESAM. His presentation, titled “Elevating Nigeria’s Research and Development (R&D) Output through the Technology Incubation Programme,” explored how structured technology incubation can unlock innovation and accelerate the adoption of locally developed solutions.
The keynote shed light on the challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s agricultural mechanization space, emphasizing the importance of a Community of Practice and
Participatory Technology Development (PTD) approaches. These models encourage collaboration among researchers, fabricators, farmers, and private sector actors to ensure that technologies are practical, inclusive, and responsive to real-world needs.
CONESAM’s participation at the South-West Zone Techno Expo reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange within Nigeria’s agricultural mechanization ecosystem. Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Adam Smith International, and the National Board for Technology Incubation, CONESAM continues to support the development and scaling of home-grown technological solutions.
As CONESAM explores new collaborations and cutting-edge ideas, the network remains focused on strengthening agricultural processing, supporting machine fabrication, and promoting sustainable, technology-enabled agribusiness growth across Nigeria.
