Driving Agricultural Innovation and Growth:Insights from #NAMISAgricSummit2023
The #NAMISAgricSummit2023 brought together government leaders, agribusiness innovators, and policy experts to explore practical pathways for transforming agriculture in Benue State and beyond.
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, emphasized agriculture as a critical driver of economic growth and food security. He highlighted the importance of empowering small-scale farmers through agricultural technology, fostering strong partnerships across sectors, and creating platforms like NAMIS to showcase innovative ideas. The Governor also stressed the need for improved access to funding and increased investment to unlock sustainable agricultural development.
Adding a private-sector perspective, Karen Adie, Founder and CEO of Isidore AgriTech, underscored the transformative power of agritech. Drawing parallels with the rapid rise of fintech, she described agritech as a catalyst for job creation, inclusion, food security, innovation, and expanded trade and exports.
The summit featured engaging panel sessions with leading agribusinesses, cooperative-focused innovators, and policy experts. Discussions focused on scaling technology-driven solutions, strengthening market linkages, and advancing policy and legislative reforms to accelerate agricultural growth at both state and national levels.
Overall, #NAMISAgricSummit2023 reinforced a shared vision: a future where innovation, collaboration, and strategic investment drive a resilient and prosperous agricultural sector.
